A fragrance is a blend of extracts, alcohol and water, each perfume, cologne, or fragrance, is characterized by the ratio of ingredients. A perfume has a different concentration of extracts to an Eau de Toilette. Perfume has the highest concentration, followed by Eau de Parfum and Esprit de Parfum. Though they are less concentrated, the two latter fragrances leave an intense lingering scent. Eau de Toilette is much lighter, with the least concentrated fragrance being Eau de Cologne.

Fragrances and aromas spread to Europe as the Crusades made Europeans even more aware of the art of perfumery which had existed for centuries prior in the Middle East. By the Middle Ages trade in spices from the east became hugely important in Western Europe; the same spices were used in perfumes, medicine and in food. By 1656 the guild of glove and perfume-makers was established in France. In Royal Court of Great Britain women would put fragranced sponges under their clothes. By the 17th century Europe was virtually swept away by the fad of perfumery. It was common for noble women to create their own fragrances by experimenting with different aromas. Louis the14th of France was considering restricting the use of perfumes because he felt jealous that his subjects loved fragrances more than him. When the Americas were discovered so was a perfume industry new to the Europeans. Balsam of Peru and American cedar, sassafras and vanilla immediately found loyal consumers in Europe.

In the 19th Century alchemy gave way to chemistry and in 1868 the first synthetic fragrances were created. After Word War 1 women gained more independence both socially and financially. This enabled them to acquire a disposable income part of which was set aside for perfumes and cosmetics. This made the fragrance industry into a multi-billion dollar business. It included much more than retail sales of fragrances. Related industries such as chemical companies started to supply the chemicals from which fragrances were made. Marketing and advertising were used to create and promote the image of a fragrance. Modern scientists are now formulating smells that do not even exist, smells that only exist in our brains, associated with events like sun sets, ocean spray, fresh air...

Fragrances. Fragrances for Men Fragrances for Women. Affordable fragrances available at retail outlets from department stores to grocery stores to discount drug stores to discount warehouses to convenience stores. Fragrances have had the same kind of journey as Perfumes, Colognes, and Cosmetics. From the days when they were derived from the rarest and most expensive of substances by hand, to the days where they are synthesized by chemists, and mass produced at reasonable expense; the fragrance industry grows as product becomes easier to make, less expensive, and more convenient to buy.

The revolution in the way consumers buy has reached all the way into cyberspace. What we saw with the rise of the brick and mortar discount store where a Sam’s Club takes a section from the market enjoyed by Macy’s is happening again. The net and it’s cosmetics, fragrance, and perfume discount e-tailers are taking market sections from Macy’s, and Sam’s Club alike.

You can look to us for both the quality of name brand Cosmetics, fragrance and perfume products, and the economy of discount pricing. Personal service is never sacrificed along the way.
